"...their harmonies provide absolutely spine tingling moments... I'm a big fan" James Santer BBC Introducing
Crow Puppets are Cara Roxanne and Em Marshall, a Devon based female duo who perform homespun folk with a curiously ramshackle rockish edge. They sing close harmonies and blend a hotchpotch of instruments, weaving mysterious imagery and tender lyrics.
Since forming in the winter of 2012, they have performed extensively throughout the UK at festivals, music venues, living rooms, pubs and many a muddy field. They have had airtime on UK, European and American radio.
Their self released album ‘Whispering Hills, Tangled Hair’ was recorded in a cabin in Cornwall over two days by Nick Marshall (guitarist with Martha Tilston), and has been described by Folk Radio UK as an “evocative, contemporary folk sound that clearly inspires. One to watch, definitely.”
They have been enjoying working on a second album with current recordings from Jay Darlington (Kula Shaker) and Tim Jones (Tim Jones and the Dark Lanterns).
After gigs they have had an unusual array of feedback regarding their musical references from their audience; The Grateful Dead, Simon and Garfunkel, First Aid Kit (possibly because they are ladies), Wickerman music, Crosby, Stills and Nash and… one of their favourites…. ‘classical musicians gone mad’.
